All eyes will be on Centre Court later today for Andy Murray's match against Jo-Wilfried Songa. The Scot is looking particularly impressive at the moment and seems remarkably unfazed by the hopes resting on his shoulders now that England are out of the World Cup. Is this a testimony to his maturity and professionalism? Or could there be a less flattering explanation?
My hunch is that Murray has been given a psychological boost by England's humiliating defeat at the hands of the Germans. After all, we know that deep down he's a member of the North-of-the-border, anyone-but-England brigade, as he made clear during the last World Cup. For a Scotsman to now prevail where a bunch of overpaid Englishmen have failed would make a tournament victory all the sweeter. (To read more, click here.)
