Slightly baffling headline on the front page of today’s Guardian: “Four out of five doctors say cuts to NHS have affected patient care.” Er, what cuts? Is the Guardian really unaware that the government has pledged to increase the NHS’s annual budget in England by 0.1% in real terms year-on-year until the end of this Parliament? Moreover, no one has yet produced any convincing evidence that the government has broken that promise. If they had, that would be a legitimate Guardian front-page story. But no. The Guardian has decided to pretend that that story has already broken and, instead, is reporting doctors' reaction to it. (To read more, click here.)
