I enjoyed Harry Wallop's piece in today's Telegraph about the virtual lynch mob that stands ready to pounce any time someone strays too far from the bounds of political correctness. It was prompted by the fate suffered by Andrea Charman, the primary school head teacher who fell victim to an Internet campaign to remove her from her post after she sent the school sheep to the slaughterhouse.
I got flamed on Twitter last Friday when I had the temerity to suggest that Alexander McQueen, the recently deceased British fashion designer, might not be a "genius". Several hundred people rained expletives down on my head, many of them saying they wanted to beat me up, so great was their love for "Lee" McQueen. Indeed, some of the comments beneath my original blog post on the Telegraph's website were none too kind. (To read more, click here.)

I think you were restrained in your correct opinion of so called genius individuals who are good at their particular job but in no way should ever be a called a genius. It's serves as a reminder to the sycophants out there who write endless drivel about the latest person getting all the media attention .I wonder how many times Lord Simon Cowell of Television has been called a genius?...Maybe one of the Internet lynch mob could find the information on 'Cowell & Genius' before they rush out to attend a ballet, singing, acting lesson or audition for the next reality show.We can also treat with contempt other idiots masquerading as having a real opinion and that would be anyone connected to the fashion industry.Carry on Toby and next time go for the jugular otherwise the papers will be filled with another headline of...'The nation wept as actor/designer/ tailor only really known in the media passed away. Meanwhile in a remote village in Burma/North Korea/China/Iran..reports are coming in of genocide,it involves the mass slaughter of many women and children. We must cut away..a well known celeb bore wishes to speak about that earlier death of ' the meaningless person he met at a charity event sponsored by Greedy PLC'..
