It’s just as well I don’t live in Rotherham or I might face the prospect of having my four children taken away by the Labour-run Council on account of my “strong political views”.
That was the reason given by Joyce Thacker, the Director of Children and Young People’s Services in Rotherham, for removing three children from the care of their foster parents after the Council received an anonymous tip off saying they were – shock, horror – members of UKIP.
“These children are not UK children and we were not aware of the foster parents having strong political views,” Ms Thacker told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. “There are some strong views in the UKIP party and we have to think of the future of the children.”
Never mind that the husband was a Royal Navy reservist for 30 years or that his wife is a qualified nursery nurse. Forget the fact that they’ve been approved foster parents for nearly seven years and have fostered a dozen different children. No, the fact that they’re sceptical about the benefits of unrestricted immigration makes them wholly unsuitable to be foster parents, apparently. (To read more, click here.)
